McDonald Steel Building Products Limited (MSBPL) has played a significant role in the construction of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge (BSMRB) by supplying prefabricated steel structures. The project, which commenced in 2016, is being implemented with a soft loan from Japan, covering 72% of the total cost, while the remaining funds are provided by the government.

MSBPL, a pioneer in structural steel fabrication, was selected as a supplier for the BSMRB after the Japanese implementing agencies approved their products, ensuring they meet Japanese standards. The company’s expertise in manufacturing and erecting various types of steel bridges has made them a reliable partner for this prestigious project.

By sourcing prefabricated steel structures locally from MSBPL, the project has been able to save foreign currency, while also supporting the development of skilled manpower and employment opportunities within the country. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the Bangladeshi manufacturing industry, as it demonstrates the ability to provide world-class products for large-scale projects previously reliant on imported materials.

In addition to the BSMRB, MSBPL has also contributed to other major infrastructure projects in Bangladesh, including the Jamuna railway bridge, metro rail, and the expansion of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Through its commitment to quality and innovation, MSBPL continues to play a vital role in the development of the nation’s infrastructure, while reducing government expenditures and promoting the use of local products.
